Rangsit Jannon, 19, liked the necklace so much he took it with him

Phuket Gold Shop Thief Caught Within Hours

Friday, October 19, 2012
PHUKET: A man who tried to snatch a gold necklace from a jewellery shop on Phuket last night was in police custody just a few hours later.

Patong police said that Rangsit Jannon, 19, went to the Thongsakuna gold shop in the Nanai area of Patong about 7pm and asked to look at necklaces.

He was shown one, worth about 26,0000 baht. He took the necklace, ran to his motorcycle parked outside, and rode off.

About 11pm, officers arrested him at his apartment not far away.

Police claim the number of crimes in Patong, on Phuket's west coast, have fallen by about 30 percent since the Safe Patong campaign divided the city into six zones and activated community groups who stay alert for unusual events.

What a .... mastermind.

I hope it was pure greed and not another heartbreaking story resulting from the massive inequalities and hardships undured by many around these parts.

Patong can be divided into hundred zone, but the real problems are two:
a) uncontrolled Thais coming on Phuket;
b) any Thais can live with 300 hundred baht wage a day (perhaps the Burmese and phuketwan ed. )!?!

Thais are free to travel as they please in Thailand, Coralie. On the other hand, fortunately for us all, the movement of your brain cells is restricted wherever they go.

@Coralie, what planet do you come from, why should Thais be restricted to where they can travel?
