The Director of Phuket's Waterworks Authority, Pisak Chonlayoot, encountered some flak from Phuket's media when he joined a meeting at Phuket provincial Hall in Phuket City yesterday.
Residents in Vichit, south of Phuket City, were unexpectedly without tap water for three days recently, he was told.
There was no notification that the water was going to be turned off and no warning as to when it was going to be turned back on, he was told.
When waterworks telephone numbers were called, there was seldom an answer. Often, if a time was given for water to come back on, it proved to be inaccurate.
Khun Pisak said he would undertake to try to provide more information in future and create a hotline so people could know with greater accuracy what was happening with their water supply.
Yes, I was a victim as well. All the mineral and drinking water in the whole area was sold out within hours and nobody knew what exactly was going on.
