Waterworks Director Pisak Chonlayoot: better alerts promised

Phuket Water Outage Warnings to Improve, Says Official

Tuesday, September 3, 2013
PHUKET: Residents of Phuket have been promised a better system of alerts about outages on Phuket after a community recently went without water for three days.

The Director of Phuket's Waterworks Authority, Pisak Chonlayoot, encountered some flak from Phuket's media when he joined a meeting at Phuket provincial Hall in Phuket City yesterday.

Residents in Vichit, south of Phuket City, were unexpectedly without tap water for three days recently, he was told.

There was no notification that the water was going to be turned off and no warning as to when it was going to be turned back on, he was told.

When waterworks telephone numbers were called, there was seldom an answer. Often, if a time was given for water to come back on, it proved to be inaccurate.

Khun Pisak said he would undertake to try to provide more information in future and create a hotline so people could know with greater accuracy what was happening with their water supply.

Yes, I was a victim as well. All the mineral and drinking water in the whole area was sold out within hours and nobody knew what exactly was going on.

To be without running water in this day and age is totally unacceptable.
This guy, in his well pressed military-style uniform should be warned that his career (and uniform) are in danger if there's a repetition.

We've been without government water for almost 7 months now on the Wiset Road near the Vijit Resort. Calls and visits to the Kathu Waterworks have gotten us many empty promises to send engineers. This affects our entire Soi and many other nearby homes on the seaward side of the main road here. Latest rumour is that they are going to fix the entire road down to Rawai. I hope the rumour is true.

Still no regular mains supply at my apartment on the western side of Nanai Rd! We've bought water since March!
