Navy Rescues Seven From Sea After Ship Sinks Off Phuket Coast

Thursday, December 31, 2015
PHUKET: A Royal Thai Navy warship plucked seven Burmese crew from the sea last night and was carrying the survivors of a cargo ship sinking back to Phuket today.

The vessel Aung Chat Sar reported it was in distress at 5pm on December 29 and the frigate HTMS Saiburi set sail from Phuket in a rescue operation.

About 8pm last night, the cargo ship's crew of seven were plucked from the sea about 118 nautical miles off Phuket.

The warship is expected to dock on the holiday island before noon.

Strong winds and high waves were blamed for the sinking of the carego ship, which was carrying timber from Myanmar to penang in Malaysia.

Many New Year greetings to Thai Officials who have done the great humanitarian rescue job. It's also very good luck for rescued Myanmar sailors and their family members. It's also our ardent request to Thai Authority to police them whether said seven guys related in human trafficking? We learnt that after human trafficking crackdown , the Rohingyas are directly trafficked to Malaysia from Arakan.
