The credit card suspect is questioned by Tourist Police last night

Phuket Flight Leads Credit Card Forgery Suspect to be Greeted by Police

Sunday, April 5, 2015
PHUKET: Tourist Police on Phuket provided same-day service in arresting a Malaysian man soon after he used a fake credit card to buy a ticket for a flight from Bangkok to Phuket yesterday.

The 50-year-old arrived on Phuket on AirAsia at 4.45pm, collected his bags and within an hour officers say they found fake credit cards for HSBC, CitiBank, Chase, Citi, OCBC Bank, Public Bank and American Express in his luggage.

The man, Mohd Jaris Tan Bin Abdullah, was presented to Phuket's media at a conference at Tourist Police HQ in Phuket City late last night.

Kasikorn Bank officials in Bangkok alerted officers to the man's purchase of an AirAsia ticket to Phuket soon after it was bought on credit, giving them time to greet him at the airport on arrival.

Documents found in the man's possession indicated he had flown to Bangkok from Hat Yai, in Thailand's south.

The man is being held in custody and will be questioned at length today.

Apart from being blatant theft some people say no one get hurt as the banks are insured. What total rubbish, the stress caused by people realising their account has been emptied or their credit card bill is huge plus insurance companies are out to make money so therefore risk is spread and innocent people's premiums go up! I do hope Thailand increases their security on ATM's soon as this problem with not stop. Thailand has become a global hub for card fraud.
