A SWEDISH expat resident of Phuket died soon after midnight today when his motorcycle collided with a small car being driven by a Russian tourist.
The crash took place in Nai Harn, on the road leading to the lagoon, killing Rolf Billy Nilsson, 60, who was riding towards his home nearby in Moo 1, Rawai.
Police are yet to interview Russian tourist Andrey Casksov, 28, who is being held in a cell at Chalong. He was driving a rented Caribbean.
Witnesses heard him shouting loudly with his window wound down as he passed them before the crash, officers say.
Mr Nilsson was married to a Thai and had been living on Phuket for some time.
The death of a British man in the early hours of Saturday morning was followed by a crackdown at a police checkpoint in which three expats - a Swede, a Frenchman and an Australian - were arrested and later fined in court for drunk driving.
The Australian flew off Phuket soon after.
