PHUKET police have arrested a Russian and accused the man and his Turkish staffer of running an illegal tour agency at two outlets without work permits or business approvals.
Locals tipped off police before they raided the Russ Touristo Partnership in Rat-U-Tit 200 Pi in Patong about 8pm on Tuesday to arrest Maksim Dyadkin, 32. He allegedly had no business registration, no valid visa and no work permit.
The following night about 9pm, police went to Treasure Island tours in Karon and arrested Turkish national Hatisua Melnikova, 32, who told police she was paid 15,000 baht plus commission by Mr Dyadkin. She had no work permit.
Mr Dyadkin is being held in Patong police station and Ms Melnikova is being held at Chalong pending court appearances.
