PHUKET: Two women on a motorcycle ran into the back of a Yaris saloon on Phuket yesterday - and the driver of the Yaris accelerated into a house.
It took a while for the full account of the unusual crash to emerge as onlookers surveyed the injured and the debris in Thepkasattri Road, scene of so many crashes.
About 5.17pm, as they headed south in Phuket's main highway artery between the Heroines' Monument and the Supercheap store, the women on the motorcycle slammed into the rear of a Yaris being driven by Aree Tongboon, 34.
Surprised at the sudden impact, Khun Aree attempted to brake but her foot jammed on the accelerator instead, propelling the vehicle forward into a house.
Fortunately, there were no further injuries.
The women on the motorcycle, Wichuda Nagkewa, 21, and Yinrudee Singsutham, 27, were taken to Thalang Hospital for treatment.

Lucky escape for all involved. I guess a Yaris is too small, to see, even when right in front of you, unless of course, the car suddenly changed lanes, but that would only be guess work, on my behalf.

It's the second rear-ender involving a motorcycle we've reported in just a few days. The first ended in a death. The second? You say ''lucky escape,'' but you're guessing unless you know the extent of the women's injuries. If you drive around Phuket, you will see plenty of vehicles bearing marks that indicate similar impacts. All we can say with certainty, dbate_me, is that the driver hit the accelerator, not the brakes. No point in guesswork.
