PHUKET: One of several new beach clubs on the shorefront at Phuket's popular Surin beach will be an upmarket establishment due to open in late November.
The club, to be named Pearl of Surin, will occupy the dramatically remodelled premises once filled by Stereolab, towards the southern end of the beach.
Backing the venture is Catherine Morel, a well-known Phuket expat who spends much of her time in Surin. She told Phuketwan:
''You will be able to join our VIP room with membership where you can enjoy a selection of our finest cigars, exclusive wines, champagne, whiskys and cocktails in a warm atmosphere, with a cool breeze overlooking the white beach from Surin.
''In the daytime we will have lounge music and in the evening we will have Djs available.''
The hunt is still on for ''beautiful people, english-speaking staff as bartenders and in other roles,'' she said.
At least four more new beach clubs are expected to join existing beach clubs along the foreshore at Surin before 2014.
