PHUKET: At least 22 people are reported to have been killed tonight when a bus crashed off a road on the way back to Chiang Mai after a merit-making day trip.
A group of passengers, mostly elderly people, caught a convoy of three buses and a minivan from Chiang Mai to Phra Yao to make merit for the end of the rainy season.
On the return trip about 7pm, one of the buses plunged down a steep slope, killing most of those on board.
The crash occurred in heavy rain, rescuers said.

I just came back to work after a 1 week holiday in Chiang Mai. Delightful place filled with lovely people. Very sad to read this tragic accident. RIP
