PHUKET: Four monks at a Phuket City temple were banished last night soon after neighbors complained and police confirmed that, yes, that smell is marijuana.
Officers arrived at the Kajornrangsan Temple near Old Phuket Town about 8pm in response to a telephone call claiming that some of the monks were higher than they should be.
Sure enough, when police searched the room of Wichai Sukkarom, 23, they found marijuana.
Soon after, Santi Tontong, 22, declined an invitation to stop and kept walking. When officers did catch up, they found 0.33 grams of ya ice secreted in his robes.
Later, another 1.21 grams was discovered in the room of Suchai Angsanam, 32. A bit more - 1.48 grams - turned up when police searched the room of Wichai Suksawat, 33.
It wasn't only the monks. temple worker Anan Hongyok, 49, was also apprehended with marijuana.
Police allowed the temple abbot to disrobe the four monks before the five men were taken to Phuket City Police Station for further questioning.

I suspect these monks will be defrocked as well in due course.
