One-Two-Go counter at Phuket airport . . . report pending

Phuket Air Crash: 'Report Three Months Off'

Thursday, May 14, 2009
THE FINDINGS of the investigation into the One-Two-Go air crash on Phuket will not be made public until August at the earliest, a British newspaper is reporting.

A British Member of Parliament has been pressing for a date so that the inquests on four people who were victims of the crash can be held.

One-Two-Go Flight 269 crashed on September 16, 2007, while attempting a landing in squalls and heavy rain at Phuket airport.

The pilot froze at the controls, it has been claimed, and as a result, 90 crew and passengers died.

The 40 survivors are among those awaiting the results of the official investigation.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation completed its technical investigation into the crash some time ago.

The Scunthorpe Telegraph is reporting that MP Elliot Morley has been pressing in Parliament for a date to permit inquests on local publicans Harry Slater 43, and Steve Saunby 40, and their respective wives Helen 31, and Susan, 26.

Mr Morley said he had been told by the British Embassy in Bangkok the investigation into the cause of the crash was still on-going.

''The ICAO report was passed on to the Thai government and was being reviewed by a technical sub-committee,'' Mr Morley is quoted as saying.

''The report was due to be finalised and endorsed by the Thai Minister for Transport this month. But this time frame could slip depending on decisions made by the sub-committee.''
