A couple of White Box guests vamp it for photographers

Phuket Fashion Week: Preview Party Special

MANY of the top models for Phuket Fashion Week & Music Festival turned out tonight for a drink and a bite at the White Box.

It was a chance for some of the key figures to relax before the serious business - the fun - begins.

Was that Angelina Jolie we saw with Sylvio Berlusconi? Er, no. But it was a party that probably would not have disappointed either of them.

For a week, day and night, Phuket will be host to fashion parades, music concerts by some of Thailand's top names, and after-show parties.

If the preview party was any guide, Jungceylon in Patong will definitely be popular from July 24 onwards.

Each day will bring a free afternoon catwalk parade from 2pm to 3pm, with the giant water spouts in Jungceylon's large open courtyard as a backdrop.

From 8pm to 10pm each evening there will be two brand catwalk showings, followed by a concert including some of Thailand's top bands and artists.

Later comes the after-show party, either at the White Box on the beach at Kalim or at Hollywood, in the heart of Patong.

Ticket-holders will be able to mix and mingle with models and performers, as well as the media. Fashion TV is expected to attend.

Prices vary depending on access required from 500 baht to 1500 baht, with week-long passes going for 3000 baht and 5000 baht.

It's hoped that the fashion blast - the North Koreans are said to have a large ship laden with the latest designer wares on the way - will succeed to the point where it becomes a twice-yearly Phuket event.

About 600 extra resort rooms are expected to be occupied during the week on Phuket. The preview took place at the Millennium Resort Patong.

Among strong daily lineups of pop stars, Tata Young is scheduled to perform on Friday.
