PHUKET: About 400 protesters who gathered outside the US Embassy in Bangkok today were outnumbered by riot police in heavy rain, according to reports.
There was no violence and the demostration, over an anti-Islam video, was peaceful, say police in the capital.
The video has sparked protests - some of them violent - in cities around the world.
The group behind the Bangkok protest, the International Al Quds Federation of Thailand, had called for a peaceful protest on its Facebook page.
The US Embassy closed at noon today in advance of the gathering. According to reports, there were 700 riot police on hand around the embassy.
Protesters carried signs and banners saying ''We love Prophet Muhammad'' and ''Stop insulting our religion,'' and chanted ''Down with America'' and ''Down with Israel,'' Associated Press reported.
A protest leader, Sa-id Sulaiman Husseini, said the world could become a ''sea of fire'' if the American government did not stop the distribution of the film and arrest its makers.
On Phuket, the immediate past president of the Phuket Provincial Islamic Committee, Bamrung Sampaorat, said no protest was planned. About one in three of Phuket's registered citizens is Muslim.

A famous French writer wrote long time ago "the 21st century will be religious or....................it will not be"
He was probably right and that scare me. Our world become crazy and I don't see any solution. I hope the next generatio will be better but I doubt.
