PHUKET: Organisers are well on the way to confirming details of the Quiksilver Surf 2012 Competition at Phuket's Patong beach from September 12-15.
The event is expected to attract 300 surfers this year compared to 200 last year, the President of the Phuket Board Riders' Surf Club, Chanin Aiyarak, told a meeting at Provincial Hall in Phuket City today.
With prizes for the main events of $1000 plus air tickets and vouchers, the Phuket event is attracting interest from Australia, Hawaii, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Maldives, US and Thailand.
As well as mens' lonbg board and short board events, there will be a womens category, a masters category for those over 35 and a grommet section for the under 16s.
Music, fashion, outdoor lifestyle and surf exhibitions are likely to be part of the event. For inquiries, call 02 6520792.
