The cash has definitely gone. The girlfriend for the night has been found, but their relationship isn't what it once was.
Danish tourist Stefan Guldager, 44, told officers at Karon Police Station that about 3am on Tuesday, he met Somjid Uti, 33, and arranged for her to accompany him to his room at the Kata Beach Studio.
Waking up a bit later that same morning, he discovered Khun Somjid had disappeared into the new day. Gone with her was 7000 baht and a small Lonovo laptop.
Anxious to relocate his cash and his laptop, Mr Guldager went to the Karon Police Station.
Khun Somjid was found by police a little later, still in possession of Mr Guldager's laptop but with no explanation of what might have happened to his cash.
Mr Guldager arrived on Phuket on April 18 and has a visa that expires on September 19. Khun Somjid is expected to face court on a charge of theft.
The taking home of ladies happens 100's of times every night and this girl should get the full 2 years which is the normal Thai jail time for night theft otherwise they will all be stealing soon, less tourists, less money more crime. Don't tell me she is out on bail and on a bus going to Isarn, sad but most likely never to face court.
