PHUKET: A policeman is in hospital after crashing his vehicle into a waterlogged ditch on Phuket's bypass road at the weekend.
Witnesses said they saw the silver Honda travelling fast on a downhill approach to the Tesco-Lotus intersection about 4.30am on Sunday.
The vehicle clipped a power pole and plunged into the water-filled ditch, witnesses told investigating police officers.
Kusoldharm Foundation paramedics helped remove Captian Jakkapong Leungaon, who is on the force at Kathu Police Station in Patong.
The airbags in the car had deployed, paramedics said. He was taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
Police Captain Wittaya Sinjanrean is investigating the crash.
