PHUKET: A man with a .38 handgun in the glovebox of his car was subdued in a dramatic confrontation with police in Phuket City today.

Two truckloads of police were called to the scene near a market in the Samkong district when patrol officers spotted the man waving a long staff at passersby in a dangerous manner.

He had left his car in the road about 8.40am and was threatening to ''kill you all.''

Police blocked off traffic with the two trucks then subdued the man in spectacular fashion, as Phuketwan's photo album shows.

Pongsak Pitchaphan, 41, who was forced to the roadway in Soi Paneang 5, was being held at Phuket City Police Station while police made further investigations.

Many people speak badly about the Phuket Police but this article demonstrates that they put themselves in possible physical danger to protect the people of Phuket and it's infrastructure so please negative people out there think about that next time you are about to say something bad about the Police. Well done to the Police for arresting this man and also to Phuketwan for covering the story.

One or a few good deeds do not make this a great police force on Phuket. When this becomes the norm and not the exception, then we will rejoice. In this instance, well done police.

so today in the morning from airport to town, around 4am, we saw a car having on hazard lights...
with about 40 km/h or less, for no reason I could come up with driving in all three lanes left and right to block all cars wanting to take over,

I ve never seen such a thing in my life,
I wonder if its the same guy

Out of point, but I've always wondered if the Thai Police's uniform would rip during action cos they really make them tight. Anyway, good work.
