Police organised checkpoints and were also closely looking at Phuket bus terminal. A teller said the man used Bangkok language but spoke with a southern accent. he wore jeans and white sneakers.

PHUKET: Police all over Phuket were on the alert today for an armed bank bandit who fled with 2.7 million baht after a gunpoint robbery in Phuket City.

The man was last seen heading north on a motorcycle up Thepkasattri Road, Phuket's main artery, from the bank branch where he staged the raid and made his getaway in less than a minute.

Wearing a dark blue jacket and a full-face helmet, the man pulled a gun and demanded cash from a teller about 3pm at the Kasikorn branch near Supercheap.

He fled with 2.7 million baht and headed north up Phuket's main road on a blue-white Honda Wave.

Phuketwan placed this article online within one hour of the robbery and the photograph was added just 65 minutes after the raid.
