PHUKET: Timber facades belonging to an extremely old house in Old Phuket Town have been revealed as part of a recent renovation.
The ancient wooden panels were revealed on the upper floor as workmen began the process of upgrading the building.
Residents who have lived in Old Phuket Town all their lives say the wooden panels go back at least 70 years.
The timber appears to have been well-preserved beneath a more modern outer protective layer that has recently been removed.
The premises are being refitted to become a mobile telephone shop on the corner of Thalang Road and Thepkasattri Road.
Along Thalang Road, the effort going into giving the sino-Portuguese shophouses an authentic feeling continues to pay dividends with more tourists spotted in the street each day.
Timber houses, however, are increasing rare around Phuket.
