PHUKET: A Thai tourist is thought to have drowned on a day-trip outing to the Similan Islands from Phuket.
Royal Thai Navy 3 sailors were called to Island No 9 on Sunday afternoon where they performed cpr and provided oxygen to Nagnit Lirungrong, 63, for one hour, without any sign that the woman would revive.
Khun Nagnit, who had earlier been pulled from the water, was on a Love Andaman tour.
A Royal Thai Navy proposal to create a helicopter landing area in the Similans to deal with emergencies was rejected several years ago.
