PHUKET: An Australian tourist has helped police to quickly arrest a woman who allegedly stole money from him with an early-morning hug in Patong.
Jeffrey Crump, 54, told police that he was walking back to his hotel about 2.15am yesterday when Kanticha Chaibamrung stepped into his way and embraced him.
In the embrace, Mr Crump later told officers at the Kathu Police Station, which oversees Patong, Khun Kanticha's hands wandered into his pants and removed 4500 baht.
A motorcycle taxi rider saw the pair arguing in Patong's beach road and called in officers from a checkpoint.
An investigating team led by Lieutenant Colonel Nikorn Chootong found the 4500 baht in the pocket of Khun Kanticha's shorts.

All credit to the motorbike taxi driver for calling on the police rather than intervening himself. Good man!
