PHUKET: A spectacular fire erupted in a car being edged over Phuket's Patong Hill in traffic by an expat today.
The blaze came suddenly and unexpectedly at 2.20pm in a Toyota Vios with Frenchman Bernard Louis Joseph Hazebrouco at the wheel.
Mr H. is believed to have escaped injury. The same cannot be said for the car.
Initial blame for the fire falls on an overheated engine and a long wait in traffic.
The fireworks erupted at the last hairpin bend on the descent into Patong, after passing Pearl Villas.
