The man in the yellow t-shirt leaves his backpack last night

VIDEO Man in Yellow T-Shirt Shown Leaving Backpack at Erawan Shrine

Tuesday, August 18, 2015
PHUKET: A massive manhunt focused on the suspect in the yellow t-shirt today after fresh video emerged showing him leaving a backpack at the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok minutes before a blast killed 22 people.

The man slips out of the large backpack and strolls off, leaving the backpack behind on a low bench, among tourists and other shrine visitors.

He is fiddling with his mobile telephone, which is possibly the way that the deadly explosion was triggered.

The man in the yellow t-shirt is now the most wanted man in Thailand, with police keen to establish a motive for the surprise atrocity that has been described by PM Prayuth Chan-O-Cha as ''the worst incident that has ever happened in Thailand''.

National police chief Somyot Pumpanmuang said the suspect could be Thai or a foreigner. ''We need to look at the before and after CCTV footage to see if there is a link,'' Somyot told reporters.

Thailand's ministry of foreign affairs said: ''For the time being, it is too early to determine the possible motives or who the perpetrators may be.''

A 28-year-old Australian actor is among those already pulled in for questioning by police.

Sunny William Burns, a model and English teacher, said later in a social network: ''I forgive everyone who spread those horrible rumors about me.

''I love this country and let's fight together. Let's find this bomber. I'm not a terrorist but I'm a ting tong [crazy] actor.''

Four members of one Malaysian family were among 22 Thais and tourists killed in last night's blast in the shopping and business heart of Bangkok . More than 120 people were wounded.

The body of a handicapped man, who sold souvenirs at the Erawan Shrine, was today handed back to his grieving family for a Buddhist cremation.

The identification of others will take longer because they were blown to pieces.

''We will find them,'' said PM Prayuth in a statement. ''We will bring them to justice.''

Bangkok police are also investigating a spectacular blast in the water at a Bangkok ferry pier today that may have been a discarded grenade.
