She said her Swiss husband cried as he apologised for going on the international drugs mule run to South America without telling her.
Khun Amornrat said she told him to calm down, and consider his position. Mr Balmer was arrested at Phuket International Airport on May 9, carrying in his bag four kilos of cocaine.
Once a carpenter in Switzerland, he had a bad fall that stopped him working and lived on a disability pension until the government cut payments earlier this year.
Khun Amornrat, who caught the bus from the central province of Korat to visit her husband on Phuket, said that a Phuket court had set bail for her husband at five million baht.
While his parents in Switzerland were not wealthy, they were looking at ways that the sum might be raised, she said.
Khun Amornrat is living with her mother in Korat and will have to decide whether to make the move to Phuket if her husband or his family cannot raise the bail money.
She said the couple had been living in Hua Hin, running a small bar from which they derived no income.
They had decided to move to Korat to open a restaurant and try to save some money, but her husband's decision to become a drug courier had left their lives in limbo.
well at least they have given him bail !, once out he can skip the country easy.
