PHUKET: Superstar Beyonce and her family have arrived on Phuket for an extended holiday, Phuketwan has confirmed.
The American singer passed through Phuket International Airport two days ago, said officials there. She flew in by Etihad Airways with husband Jay-Z, 45, and their two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
Although it's not clear when she is leaving, reports say she will be on the Thai holiday island until January 5.
Her arrival has caused media confusion because reports in other media outlets suggest that she was spending Christmas in Iceland.
On Christmas Eve Beyonce posted snaps to her website from a romantic getaway in the chilly northern hemisphere country with her husband.
Apparently the warmth of Phuket has won over frozen Iceland.
The singer's choice of holiday destinations follows in the path of reality celebrity Kim Kardashian, who holidayed with her family north of Phuket earlier this year, and singer Rihanna, who visited the previous year and created waves by taking a ''selfie'' of herself with a slow loris in Patong.
It's illegal for touts to offer protected lorises to tourists for photo opportunities in the island's west coast holiday hub.
Rihanna also tweeted in surprise at what she saw at an illegal ping-pong sex show in Patong.
Lorises and sex shows can still be found on Phuket if illicit adventures are part of Phuket's appeal in Beyonce's holiday.
Footballing superstar Christiano Ronaldo has also visited Phuket and a smaller island resort recently.
