PHUKET: A man who used shock treatment to stun and catch fish was electrocuted when a power fault or contact with water caused his death by electrocution early today.
The body of Suchart Chanaprasit, 36, was found half in and half out of a narrow canal near the Tarzan Jungle Bungy Jump in central Phuket.
Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rescuers said the electrical fishing equipment was still in the man's hand.
Relatives told them that Khun Suchart often went fishing at night about 10pm but when he hadn't returned after two or three hours as normal overnight, they called police.
Staff at the bungy jump, which operates in daylight hours, were aware that Khun Suchart sometimes plugged his power lead in there after dark and had warned him not to do it.
Khun Suchart's body was taken to the Phuket morgue at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Electrical voltage water and a lazy fisherman not fishing in the old fashion way bad combination if he was relying on a safety switch with circuit breaker to protect him (doubtful) there considered a expensive optional extra in Thailand and in the unusual species category
