Road Rage Russian Belts Phuket Tourist: Security Camera Leads to Arrest
By Sert Tongdee Friday, April 25, 2014
PHUKET: Police arrested a Russian man after a road rage incident on Phuket in which he clashed with an Australian pedestrian, inflicting damage to the man's teeth and head.
Evgenii Baturin. 27. was spotted by police as he walked outside the Kata Beach Resort about 7pm yesterday.
About 9.30pm the previous evening, Mr Baturin had driven a vehicle close to the children of a man named Peter Mark Fuller who was on a family outing in Patak Road, Kata, near the Spice House Restaurant.
When Mr Fuller remonstrated with Mr Baturin, Mr Baturin left his car and punched Mr Fuller.
Using security camera images, officers from Karon were able to confirm what had happened and arrest the alleged Russian assailant less than 24 hours later.

Terrible behaviour a man looking over his kids is punched, especially in a tourist area. However I was told, not sure how accurate it is if two people are fighting of roughly the same age and gender the maximum fine is 1000Baht if no weapons are used. Is this true can anyone advise please?

Phuket would be a much better place without Russians. I like people from every country and have tried to like them but the vast majority are just plain rude and arrogant.

Russian create too much problem in Phuket (Thailand). If a Russian create problems just deport them right away, then the others will learn how to behave.
How about the Russian lady that hit a Thai boy on the Bike who died and the Russian lady left Thailand the next evening ! ! !

This is not road rage. It is cultural ignorance on display.

Police are not doing their job, or doing it badly. When you see guilty Russians allowed to leave the country without being charged and punished, teenagers being beaten up by police to extract a confession, vehicles on the road without license plates, motorcycles driving on the wrong side of the road, police discharging a gun in a crowd of people then there is something really wrong with that outfit. I myself, have been assaulted by a Russian here and I do not want them here.

I have a Russian friend, he's an opera singer, and his wife is a professional dancer.I asked him why Russian women in Thailand are either really fat, or look like gorgeous super models, no in between. He said it's because they have to look good, as there are so few decent Russian men available,in his words.." three out of ten eligible young single Russian men are alcoholics, four out of ten are financially destitute or have social skill/personality disorder issues. This leaves 3 out of ten decent Russian men for all the decent women, hence the woman have to be beautiful, to attract one of the thirty percent. Since 2011,daily direct flights from Moscow bring them to Thailand in droves. He said there are so many low quality Russian tourists, because they are nouveau rich, and ENTITLED to a degree, that disgusts him.

I talked with staff at spice house. They said, that according to local witnesses, Australian reciprocated Russian with too much swearing, so what reaction he expected? Yes, Russian was driving may be not much carefully, but didn't make any real harm to these people. It quite understandable reaction. Who like to here "f***' you?

Stranger, if I was walking with kids, and some nutter, Russian or not, came dangerously close, the "primitive"(Ed's word), protective genes would surface and I'm afraid it would be more then the "f" word. Drivers are in "control" of a potentially deadly weapon and should be driving with far more care than we see. Most reasonably thinking people know that in busy areas 60Km's is a "maximum," in many countries it is reduce to a lot less, unfortunately Thailand has not realised this.

I remember 30 years ago there were mainly Germans, Swiss and a few Poms and Aussies on Phuket. Then the Italians came, first the wealthy Northerners then the Southerners.
The Scandinavians were always around but have disappeared from Phuket in many areas. A friend from Denmark told me it was because they don't like Russians. Wherever the Russians go they will avoid. This would appear to be true in regards to Phuket.
Now Phuket is getting the Chinese, Indians and Russians in large numbers. The feedback I get from locals who work in resorts and hotels is never good. They prefer the way it was in the past but I don't think those groups will ever come back for obvious reasons.
When I first traveled to Thailand I often stayed in Bangkok for long periods. Since the 90's I have not been back to Bangkok and many people now avoid it altogether as well.
Phuket is now becoming a place where people are flying into for a few days before going elsewhere. There are too many rip offs and hazards to enjoy a relaxing beach holiday there now.

But in Australia, "F--- you" is considered a polite introduction to every sentence. "F--- you mate, let's get a beer! F--- you, mate, let's throw some steaks on the barbie!" I knew a guy who started every sentence he said with that word.

Stranger, a strange comment, from you, why you needed to make mystifies me, but stranger still is you make a comment about a person you know nothing about, perhaps if you knew my back ground then you would know my capabilities, until then you should keep you useless comments to yourself.
