We are in the middle of the high season, yet Thai airways is dumping their flights. Especially those to/from Europe.

They have been unable and unwilling to adjust to the market situation and are facing the same fate as MAS. The question is does the THAI Board of Directors have the courage to bring in a foreign CEO to save the airline like MAS did.

We left the fair and reasonable part of your comment untouched, Herbert, but cut the unfair and unreasonable parts.

There are at least three, or four airlines that fly Phuket to Singapore multiple times a day.
Thai international isn't one of them. In a burst of short-sightedness, they relinquished the landing slots after the 2004 tsunami due to lack of demand.
Thai International needs to stop being a vehicle for unearned privileges by a powerful few and become a competitive airline.

@ Ed

Your site, your rules but they were my experiences and opinions about THAI in general.

An airline genuinely interested in rehabilitation would even pay to get feedback from their customers and at the very least be grateful to anyone willing to spend their time to do so.

Yes yes, this is PW and not TG but someone at THAI might be reading this article.

You could have left the link though, might even be helpful for someone looking for cheap flights.

I am sure other readers and Thai Airways staff would prefer to see what constructive suggestions you had to offer rather than read another Herbert hatchet job. Anonymous criticism is easy.

The high season runs from November to March, so is just getting started at this time. We are 2 weeks in to the high season, that usually peaks in dec-jan/feb.

@ Christian

Middle as in figuratively, not literally. For your anal-retentive mind I should probably have said "well into".

The point was the high season has started but THAI is still forced to dump prices.

Hope that helps.

@ Ed

I have plenty of practical proposals and examples of how to improve THAI services and profitability. It's a process of listing what's wrong and then proposing how to do it right.

Problem is you don't want to publish what's wrong with THAI because you consider it unfair or unreasonable, thus making it pointless to even try.

Posted by Herbert on November 13, 2015 07:10

Editor Comment:

No Herbert, it just makes you appear one-sided. The criticisms are not new. Your thoughts are unoriginal. And why should anyone care what a ramp worker in Dubai has to say?

Your most offensive sentence reads:

''Much like the general attitude in Thailand towards foreigners in recent times the attitude of THAI has taken the same turn for the worse.''

Your judgements are awash with snide prejudice of the kind that we will always discourage. Sorry. We just don't have your kind of mind.

@ Ed

The ramp workers see things related to maintenance and safety standards that passengers do not. Whenever an airline is forced to cut costs, there is always the risk that costs are cut from maintenance.

(moderated)

As an anonymous online commenter, your freedom to criticise is severly limited because (a) it's not fair and (b) any negative consequences rebound on us, not you.

I understand but do not agree with your point.

Skytraxx is the largest airline industry related feedback portal and anonymous feedback is fully accepted.

Where is Skytraxx based, Herbert?

Or does your closed mind about Thailand suddenly swing open when it works for your own self-interested point-scoring?

You understand . . . but not really? How generous of you.

What Herbert meant to say was: Thank you so much to PW and the editor for allowing me so much space for my comments, even the ones critical of you, which were quite often guesswork, and always anonymous. As for my views on Thailand . . . well, you can't see me, but I am blushing.

For the record

I wrote not one word of the comment the Editor chose fake to look like it was written by me.

End of discussion.
