Although I used to carry my own scales when going to seafood restaurants with a plan to get some expensive stuff like 3/5 Giant River Prawns - since so many vendor's scales are fixed, I never did this for fruits as they in general cheap, but yesterday I was astonished about the scale of cheating:
1 Maha Chanok mango, the average from what on display, showed 0.5kg(!) , instead of probably
0.3-0.35kg
1 Okrung Thong mango showed ever more spectacular results like 0.4-0.45kg instead of 0.2-0.25kg.
Giving the price per kg 35THB for Maha Chanok and 30THB for Okrung Thong, the monetary value of fixing, surely, is neglible , especially giving that they have peeled fruits well, but the scale of scale fixing is astounding.
