Ed, with regards to the tram project, is there any contact detail (email address for example) that you can give us so that we can put suggestions forward to the transport ministry with alternative ideas?

The time for suggestions appears to have passed, DT.

They need another north south road, not a tram system. It won't go anywhere near the tourist areas, therefore will almost certainly be under-utilised, and the traffic chaos that this project will create during its six-year construction really might be the final straw for many expats and regular tourists.

With plans for the tracks to be down the middle of some of the busiest roads on the island, this won't alleviate the traffic problems, it'll probably make them worse.

Indeed. This is a grab at a technical solution with obvious financial benefits for some. But it provides no answers.

I love to read the press releases of the property developers who claim that business has never been better in Phuket.

Half of the developments in my neighborhood are still for sale or project are proceeding at snails pace.

Just wait a little longer, we might actually see prices come down a bit.

So often too, wm, the press releases are published as if they are independent investigations and therefore believable.

There was a plan for a second north-south road. The late Rolly Tasker even donated some land to the government to help with this aim.

What happened to that "plan"? Nothing is heard about it these days.
