Answer: As for Phuket . . . it's a destination that will continue to suit the ultrarich, who can find workarounds for its flaws, and the package tourist, who helps to create some of them. The rest? Independent travellers are now being offered destinations that still have low prices and low greed. One look at Phuket taxi and tuk-tuk prices will work in favor of almost every other destination in the entire world. Sunbeds? Military? Nothing to do with it.
