So the vote is in and Scotland has voted to remain within the United Kingdom. How very disappointing for those that voted to be an independent Scottish nation. A terrible blow but a future referendum is sure to be on the cards in the future.
One thing is for sure and that is the No voters cannot claim a massive victory given how close it was. Percentages and statistics are one thing, but it was far closer than most thought possible.
Now the vote is finalised, hopefully this will bring about a badly needed reformation of the British constitution and a fairer more equitable sharing responsibilities. It will hopefully awaken Westminster to the reality that the UK does not start and end within the M25.
Next to come will be the referendum on whether the UK will remain within the EU. For Westminster, read Brussels, for Salmond read Cameron and it will be a re-run. Certainly both sides, pro and anti Europe will have taken many lessons from the Scottish referendum.
Many in the UK are tired of being dictated to by the EU and Brussels. Tired of having its national identity, laws and borders being eroded by laws, rules and regulations disctated by others. Tired of having illegal immigrants flood in, despite the rules and laws, tired of those illegal immigrants being allowed to remain by Brussels. Tired of supporting failing or failed EU member states, predominately former eastern block countries. Tired of having those people coming into the UK and sponging off the welfare and NHS.
There is a growing tide of those that want to leave the EU and who can blame them? I envy those countries that aren't tied to such a mill stone. It's not about isolationism, racism or nationalism. It's about fixing the UK. Too long the UK has been the goto nation of America. It's about time the UK put itself first, stop apologising for being a former Emire and sort the UK out, before giving handouts to the sick nations of Europe. Too long these people have taken ungrateful advantage of a generous nation and it's time it stops. Let others do their bit for a change.
The only way to do that is to free itself from the shackles of Brussels and the EU, a failed experiment in unity.

@ Lord Melchett. I agree with you. The NO voters believed in the fairy politicians delivering on their promises. They should come and chat to the rice farmers here, to learn if politicians are honorable. England is no longer full of English persons but full of other breeds and they are being pussy whipped into believing they will be ok.

@Lord Melchett
Establish the facts first, and only then comment on them:
"the No voters cannot claim a massive victory given how close it was"
===
2,001,926 NO
1,617,989 YES
383937 margin??? or ???24%
???Is TWENTY FOUR percentage points or, roughly one fourth of Yes voters, that CLOSE? ???You've disremembered the laws of arithmetic that you last time studied in school 50 years ago.
" stop apologising for being a former Emire???"
???"people have taken ungrateful advantage of a generous nation "???
???"Tired of having illegal immigrants flood in, despite the rules and laws, tired of those illegal immigrants being allowed to remain by Brussels. ???"
?????????" Tired of having those people coming into the UK and sponging off the welfare and NHS. ???"
===
???"Illegal immigrants" obviously came from outside EU - namely, from the former Crown colonies, that the Empire allowed too giving its (moral) liability toward thereof. The fact that the Empire wasn't very successful in integrating them into a mainstream society, and many of them never had any employment record, it only the Empire's fault, nobody's else, it had to work harder, be more inventive and creative in designing tools and methods how to engage these people with more success.
Greater India, Caribbean, part of Africa - these were these are the places where these people came, and by allowing them in the Empire pays the bill that is long overdue.
Your, Lord Melchett, well-being like a pension assets or other assets, thank to which which you' re now have an opportunity so blissfully and worry-free care about a dung of your pony in tropical climate, undoubtedly is built in its part on sucking blood from colonies and exploiting them.
???But the Empire's bills on it has been never settled???.
Let's take Rohingya issue, who have been forcefully moved by British as a cheap labor: besides current Myanmar authorities responsibility, it is even more of the former Empire to settle the issue that this people do not suffer, at least diverge part of the former Empire assets like 10,000USD [er head in ten years, to re-settle the community, establish infrastructure and tech them modern skills - yes yes, share your money! probably your pension could get few tens pounds smaller as a result, or your income tax rate will be up by 1%, but that what the UK ultimately will have to do, early or later:it is by far not the end, it is only beginning. Germany settled successfully so many WWII related claims, so the former Empire is not in very different position,and have to settle its bills
?????????" the EU, a failed experiment in unity.???"??????
"Next to come will be the referendum on whether the UK will remain within the EU. "
"Many in the UK are tired of being dictated to by the EU and Brussels. Tired of having its national identity, laws and borders being eroded by laws, rules and regulations disctated by others. ???"???
So the vote is in and Scotland has voted to remain within the United Kingdom. How very disappointing for those that voted to be an independent Scottish nation. A terrible blow but a future referendum is sure to be on the cards in the future.

Chamberlain's son, Lord Melchett, while cleaning pony's dung, lost the point, that the European Union in first has been formed for geopolitical reason to decrease probability of a next major war in Europe. All the rest of issues related to what is the EU and its features are subordinate to that goal.
But, yes Lord Melchett's, Chamberlain's "genes" of brain cells say to him : Money comes FIRST:
let's launder all the money stolen around the world by corrupt politicians and officers, let's provide them with the best real estate, banking and financial services, residence permits, because they brings us so much many and so easy: lawyers and accountants of all kinds, bankers, agents, construction industry, and of course bell-boys, gardeners, waiters and plumbers who serves, are so happy to see these.
These money makes Brits well-off, but other, mostly already poor countries, become even poor, because the UK likes to accept stolen money, and AMLO seems to be non-existent.
"British connection" : absolute majority of offshore destinations used to suck blood from poor nations today, either by form of tax evasion, or simply to hide stolen in course of corruption . are crown dependencies under the UK jurisdiction: BVI, Cayman is. Guernsey, Jersey, Bermuda, TCI as well as Bermuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, Gibraltar, that because of lack of political will of UK to cut robbing other countries budgets for the benefits of the UK lawyers, accountants and their gardeners.
" It's not about isolationism"
===
Open a lid to see the world:
You foolishly forgot that 4 main freedom for the UL beyond the EU will be curtailed,and it applies as well to Brits working and living in the EU, to the City that will become to big degree irrelevant if it will be beyond the EU,. as well as freedom of movement of UK produced goods as well as most of services. ???
Removing UK from the EU either to EFTA/EEA member status or similar to Switzerland, will only remove UK ability to influence EU decisions at all: EFTA members receive the EU laws that they have to adopt : by fax:" and without a lot of discussions, and if these laws are not transposed, then there will be simply no access to the EU marker. Waste majority of the EU laws are within an area that to be adopted by EFTA members.??????
You foolishly again forgot that it is the FORMER empire, that share in global economy dropped from ca.4% 30 years ago to roughly 2% today, and will continue to drop.
You better talk about the things you know well - your pony dung, not about the thing which you simply don't understand, since your irrelevance on these issues is astounding, and is aking those retired, but also retarded law enforcement officer of BVI -who being appointed there as cop, prosecutor and judge, in McMillan case convicted a person in murder that took palce on Tortola is. basing on only evidence - cellmate, serial criminal's , compulsive liar's evidence that the man allegedly confessed to him about murder.
Degree of their dementia correlates well with the one on your opinions on the EU and world affairs.
So continue to indulge yourself with selfmisinforming , take a warm bath full of illusions decorated with rose petals and hand-picked selected granules of organic Grand Cru pony dung of "Melchett Shallow" brand

Sue, once again you have shown your lack of education and proving again that the suggestion of any competence in either science of mathematics is fantasy.
Total voters approx. 3,620,000
Yes voters 1,618,000 or 44.7%
No voters 2,002,000 or 55.3%
The margin is therefor 10.6% not 24% as you again incorrectly state.
The requirement for change would have required 5.35 in every 100 no voters to vote yes, for the yes vote to have succeeded.
If you want me to explain how that works please ask and I will have my 7 year old son explain it to you.

@Manowar: Why continue flogging a dead horse? I think we've all had enough of Sue and if the Ed can take a hint from a near Oscar Wilde quote: 'By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, journalism keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the likes of Sue'. Really it shouldn't be like that.
If he/she/it had something coherent to say then publish it. If it lacks substance and is full of garbled pomposity, then just ditch it. Let's get back to how it was!

Hahahahahaha hahahaha!
@Stupid. You really are a wit. "establish the facts and then only comment on them..." My how funny you are. You would not know a fact if it came up and slapped you in your porcine face. That's as far as I read your tripe I am afraid. I am not ready for sleep yet.
I am a British citizen and an Englishman with Scottish ancestry so am eminently more qualified than some keyboard troll like you, who believes that their view is correct based upon no knowledge. And you're clearly not from the UK, most likely some backward eastern block backwaters.
I shan't even bother to try dissecting your recent offering of tripe because that would be pointless; yet again you make no sense. I think I shall start calling you Thrush from here on in. Not that you would understand that.
There's a growing number of people within the UK who want to exit the EU. Fact. The EU is a failed experiment. Fact. I am not going to bother debating or trying to educate you. It's like flogging a dead donkey. Pointless and messy.
I am fairly pro life but after trying to read your incompressible pastings, I've decided I am in favor of abortion in cases of incest.
You appear to think you're so clever, I bet you could sit on a carton of ice cream and tell what flavor it is.
Honestly I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my as.
Now seriously, get yourself to the doctors. The symptoms are quite simple.....Diarrhoea of the mouth; constipation of the ideas.
It's a real shame the Phuket authorities didn't know about you before clearing the beaches. They could have just sent you in, with your camera and you could have sucked the life out of the place. The owners would have had no choice but to close.
Now I really must get back to completing my manure statue dedicated to you. Chin chin...
