And with keeping the baht strong how do they intend to lure back the Russian tourists ((previous article)

@Michael

of course, a quality tourist should not care about prices, that is what they want
actually, that definition applies to all incoming tourists

I would like someone in the 'know' to explain why keeping the baht strong benefits Thailand.

To my simplistic view, it neither helps tourism or exports.

I live well away from tourist main stream areas where I recognise that the ordinary Thai on the street is hurting. In Korat the shops & the malls are empty, well below what makes sense, with many shop units closing.

I know maybe should tell TAT that they don't seem to realise will see next weekend in Dubai travel show

One thing they should do is have separate queue for
First and buisness class at immigration people who spend a lot of money do not want to wait an hour in a queue

But TAT really only think of numbers

Which Korat do you mean, Logic?
Can't be Nakhon Ratchasima you are referring to. Last year you were writing of empty shops and malls already. What are you up to?

people who flight business and first class pay the airlines for a better service and seats, why should immigration give them special treatment,
you could get special treatment by paying for it at one time for much less than the cost of a business class ticket

@ Herbert: There is only one Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima). I am up to nothing as I am retired. I am seeing Thai family & friends' businesses going down the tubes or certainly struggling to make ends meet. I am seeing newly renovated shopping centres now sitting more empty than before.

I am just back from a holiday in Phuket with ever more properties becoming vacant & properties that have been empty for more than 1-2 years still empty. Building goes on to what purpose. Just trying to make sense of it.

A former friend & colleague is touring in Vietnam & reports there is no shortage of tourists including Russians there. Make sense of that?

Michael,
So your suggestion is that people with money should receive better service than those who don't. Isn't that the attitude that has caused the majority of issues and problems currently in Thailand where hisos believe they are better than the rest?
Have you ever met someone who said they are looking forward to waiting an hour in a queue but are willing to wait longer so that those with money are not delayed?
Maybe we should all get our net wealth tattooed on our faces so the wealthy can quickly be identified and processed quickly!

I don't know but two members of my family one who is a billionaire and one multi millionaire (UK) will notcome back here because queues if they have meetings they ask people to meet in KL or Singapore. Just went to India and they have this system as do a few other countries if it's quality tourism they want they have to give something extra to them, they will not be eating off the street or buying beer from seven

Michael,
And just how does one determine a quality tourist to provide this superior service. Is it the family man arriving casually dressed who owns a major corporation at home or is it the person who dresses as if he owns a corporation but in truth has saved for the last 6 months to afford to travel or advertises about the wealth and inconvenience suffered by associates?

@Michael

do you mean Phuket International Airport?
As in Suvarnabhumi, my friends , who landed there 2wk ago, travelling in Business , successfully with their Priority vouchers passed through immigration point, that was located in a separate room.
At the same time regular immigration checkpoints were completely unoccupied by customers , and officers just showed to my friends teeth that they should go "to their Priority room".
I don't know whether at the moment First class flying passengers get the same or better treatment in BKK.

Is there in HKT VIP meet&great service available for fee , and according room?
I think it was few years ago.

Back home in Europe I know it is available at ca.250EUR, and many proper used it as then you get dedicated security and immigration services delivered right in the lounge.

BKK has priority immigration entrance for Business and First class passengers.

Upon arrival First class passengers are also personally escorted through immigration. Same service is available on Phuket, even just for a fee if you fly coach.

@ Michael

I don't know what airline or class your Billionaire family members used. Perhaps they flew coach despite their billions.

@ Logic
The readers of your first post must think that shops and malls in Korat are empty. That is not true and repeating it doesn't make it true either.
Our Thai business partners have nothing to complain about, business as usual.
Only farangs complain (including me) because the pension gets smaller.
Try to get a parking spot in The Mall around lunchtime and then write again about empty places.
