Quite recently a small but very vocal group of Thais on Phuket were protesting with banners reading "Russian go home!"

Well, they have now got their wish fulfilled. I wonder how their business is doing though.

Like them or hate them, for whatever reasons rational or not so much, Russians have been a heaven sent for Phuket tourism and property market in the past 3 years.

Had it not been for them, a great number of local families would have gone hungry.
