Listing to one side, this truck toppled on Phuket's Patong Hill today

Phuket's Patong Hill Claims a Truck in the Slow Lane

Monday, December 12, 2011
PHUKET: This truck carting water came a cropper today on Phuket's notorious Patong Hill.

Perhaps it was a sudden burst of wind combined with the tilted camber of the road on that corner. Perhaps the billboards were being admired.

Usually trucks going slowly up the hill from the Phuket City side towards Patong on the other side are forced to travel slowly. It's rare to see one topple, as this truck and its load of water did about 10.45am.

The three men who were in the cabin at the time escaped injury, the Phuketwan reader who took these photographs reported.

There was no official notification to police of the crash, so it will not even be reported among statistics as officials consider the virtues of spending six billion baht on a tunnel to replace the hazardous hill road.

good to see no other motorbike or vehicle was crushed because of overloading a truck of its capacity to save a few baht.

A bit odd that it was going around a left bend yet tilted over on it's left side.

The colloquial term is really "came a cropper".

Yes, and the other one is ''typo.''

I like the way they have just relaid the areas of road that collapsed with the rain a while ago. Amazing Thailand yet again.

Does anyone actually believe a tunnel would reduce the accidents on this road? I certainly doubt it. Give a Thai driver a straight piece of road to drive on and it's 'foot to the floor time'. Thepkasattri road is a fine example of that.
