Phuket Trembles a Little: List of Region's Earthquakes Since 2012

Friday, May 8, 2015
PHUKET: A small aftershock struck the Phuket region today following three earthquakes in the space of 30 hours.

The fourth earthquake, measuring magnitude 2.7, came at 12.14pm while many people were enjoying lunch.

It probably went unfelt, unlike the two largest of the quakes of the preceding days. They rumbled like thunder and brought people tumbling out of bed early on Wednesday morning and again on Thursday morning.

Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi are in an earthquake zone so shakes can be expected. But experts say future earthquakes are unlikely to exceed magnitude 5.0.
