Phuket Thieves Nabbed in Citizens' Arrest at Nai Harn Beach

PHUKET: Two thieves who tried to steal from a British tourist after she parked her motorcycle at Nai Harn beach were promptly held in a citizen's arrest by a beach security guard and a lifesaver, police said today.

Naranart Katasila and Nuchsaba Rungpeach, both 20, were caught with 1700 baht and an iPhone 5 after prising open the lock on a motorcycle being ridden by Briton Katherine Salmon.

Ms Salmon had parked the motorcycle under trees at Nai Harn beach about 3pm yesterday.

Chalong police praised the actions of the two men who carried out the swoop on the thieves after seeing them in action.

Finger pointing seems part of Thai Law positive identification of the offender by witnesses or the victim it works and it what the courts accept re enactments of a crime are also a favorite in Thailand its what the courts accept as hard evidence if it works and they get the villain absolutely identified don't knock it this prevents people being wrongfully accused to call it stupid seems totally uniformed, the life saver and security guard make the police look slack in beach patrols they observed persons committing a crime & took immediate action very just and brave on their behalf as many crooks here carry weapons.

I always have to laugh about that finger pointing thing. Sometimes 1 or 2 suspects, behind then a whole battery of undercover police officers for a Gala Photo. You would expect, undercover police officers should not show themselves in press photo's. Well, that is the setting outside Thailand.
