PHUKET: A man wearing a blue t-shirt to cover his face robbed a 7-Eleven store in Phuket at knifepoint of 21,814 baht early today.
The man, dressed in jeans, chose a convenience store in Vichit to carry out the robbery about 3.45am.
Earlier this month police posing as 7-Eleven staff shot and captured a 7-Eleven serial robber who had staged five holdups on Phuket.
Since then, 7-Eleven stores have become places where residents and tourists can go to report crimes to Phuket police quickly.
It's assumed that if the crime is committed in a 7-Eleven store, the staff know who to call.
Phuket's serial 7-Eleven robber wore a full-face helmet in executing most of his raids, which led police to conclude he was riding a motorcycle.
In fact, he stashed the helmet in his car and drove off, probably evading checkpoints.
By using a t-shirt, there's no telling whether the latest hoodlum could be escaping on a motorcycle, in a car or on foot.

if a shooting recently for the same offences and a long prison sentence don't deter them, what does.
