No judges of handbags: thieves discarded a Louis Vuitton valued at 80,000 baht

Phuket Snatch Pair Discarded Louis Vuitton Bag Worth 80,000 Baht

Friday, April 24, 2015
PHUKET: Two men who snatched bags from tourists on Phuket last night were snagged less that four hours after their last raid, Patong police said today.

The men threw away the Louis Vuitton bag. The bag's owner told them today: ''Actually the bag is worth 80,000 baht - more than the stuff inside the bag.''

One man grabbed the bag of Cherry Guillemant, 34, as she and French husband Gregory walked outside the Hotel Ibis Phuket Patong about 6pm in Chalermphrakiat Road.

Police later nabbed two men - Weerasak Yimseng, 21, and Eakkapong Dechase, 25 - about 10pm in front of toilets in Loma Park on the Patong shorefront.

The pair from Satun had not long been out of prison in Songkhla province. They admitted other attempts at snatching bags to sustain their kratom habit.

Mr Guillemant said the impressive return of his wife's Louis Vuitton bag, iPhone6, credit cards and cash led to him having sufficient faith in Phuket police to want to come back for another holiday.

The pair and their young son arrived on Wednesday and depart on Monday. Mr Guillemant lives in China where he works as a department head at a food processor.

Sue,
Could you get your comrades on Vogue Forum to check whether this is genuine as I believe they are experts at uncovering fakes.

Louis Patong bags are everywhere.
Who knows if they are real or not.

Very quick of the Police, well done in this case.

Manowar,

sure, as those details on the right corner alarmed me instantly as I just glanced at the bag: then it may be just out of a batch of a damaged production, that has been sold in China to factory workers at manufacturing cost of 150 USD per bag, so then valuation of the stolen-recovered item may be a bit inflated.

Sue,
I have to admit that due to the unfortunate experience of once discovering a huge stash of similar bags that would make Imelda Marcos flush or whos value could have solved the debt problem in most third world countries, hidden on the opposite side of my wardrobe, my previous research does help with this article.
Certainly, the additional shoulder strap is either an add on or fake.
The only real way is to inspect the stitching which will be perfect and even without any flaws.
Copies of similar bags are in most cases almost perfect but there are always minor errors in detail.
The unfortunate thing is that those who purchased a fake would be unaware, or if they were, would never admit to it being so.
Those who purchase the genuine product are known to suffer from compulsive purchase disorder whereby numerous similar bags are purchased but rarely used so that others never find out the cost of this collection. If discovered, the genuine are passed off just as a collection of fakes.
As another steve rightly says, there is a difference between cost and worth but they sure do make good tool bags!
