PHUKET: A resort maid on Phuket who saw a guest's white iPhone 4 wanted the mobile gadget so badly that she stole it, Phuket police said today.
Chamaiporn Moyon, a guest at the Lay Tong Hotel in Prabaramee Road, Patong, reported about 1pm yesterday that her mobile telephone had gone missing.
Suspicion fell on maid Supaporn Na Wijid, 22, and when she was arrested, the young woman from Phang Nga province confessed.
''I really wanted an iPhone and didn't have the money to buy one,'' she told police. ''So when I saw it there, I just couldn't resist.''
In a separate incident, police raided a room at the Benjamin Resort in Kamala , north of Patong, about 8pm last night after receiving a warrant from Phuket Provincial Court.
Officers arrested seven-months-pregnant Patchari Supu, 22, and her husband, Montri, 25.
They took possession of five grams of ya ice methamphetamine, weighing equipment and about 40 small bags.
