Patong dilemma: What to extricate first, the car or the pole

Phuket Prangster Wraps Car Around Patong Pole, Escapes Uninjured

Wednesday, May 7, 2014
PHUKET: A male Thai driver, said to be more than a little drunk, impaled his vehicle on a power pole in Patong early today, leaving authorities with the difficult choice of removing the car from being wrapped around the pole or removing the pole first. The driver, incidentally, was not injured, although he may by now have a hangover. A Phuketwan took the shots about 8am today.

Good advertising for the strength of a Fortuna - I would guess in something smaller like a Vios he would have been quite badly injured. Lucky (if daft) man.

Amazing Thailand, not a lot of logic in your comment, standard crash test is done at the same speed, whether it is a Fortuna or a Vios, in fact the extra mass of a larger vehicle, eg Fortuna, would snap the pole easier than the lower mass of a Vios, if both doing the same speed. Maybe, and I am only saying maybe, if the pole was hit, by a Vios, it may not have snapped.
