PHUKET: Police arrested a purse snatcher today after he struck twice yesterday, stealing from a Russian and a market vendor.
A witness to the second snatch noted the number plate of the getaway motorcycle.
When Vichit police went to an apartment address in Patong about 11.30am today, they found Watchara Sornsood, 25, outside working on his motorcycle.
He confessed to two thefts yesterday.
In the first about 8am, he snatched a purse belonging to Russian Anastasia Zabello in Soi Bang Yai. In it was a pink Nokia telephone, and her passport.
Half an hour later he snatched a purse belonging to market vendor Somsri Veerapong at the Muang Thong Market.
Police later recovered Ms Zabello's passport, discarded behind a Shell service centre in Kathu.
