PHUKET: The new Phuket Police Commander, Major General Pachara Boonyasit, told the media today that ridding the island of drugs and drug-sellers was his first priority.
His aim is to catch the ''Mr Bigs'' who have often seemed to be hard to reach in the past.
In presenting one alleged drugs seller, Chadawan Prateap na Thalang, 27, to the media today, he made the point that Phuket police will follow up on drugs arrests with the aim of destroying networks and capturing ringleaders.
Before Khun Chadawan was arrested, officers on October 13 nabbed ''Mr Ae'', alleged one of her customers, with 0.17g of ya ice methamphetamine in an arrest east of Phuket City.
As a result of that arrest, yesterday in Thalang police pounced on Khun Chandawan, who was allegedly in possession of 1.18 kilos of ya ice.
Later yesterday, officers nabbed Apitak Santiwisuthikul, 25, in Cherng Talay with 1.18 kilos of the drug.
He was allegedly the dealer above Khun Chandawan in the chain of sellers.
Khun Apitak allegedly confessed and told police his supplies had come from a dealer in Bangkok.
Cases against the three are to be sent to the Phuket prosecutor.
''Khun Ae'' was not presented to the media because it is believed his life could be at risk.

Do you not have to be related to someone quite influential to have a surname such as na Thalang, na Ayuthaya, na Phuket etc
