When I lived in Phuket I avoided the roads as much as possible from midnight to 6am there are too many vehicles travelling at far too fast speeds for the road, even worse than in the day. Such a sad death but imagine if you were on a bike or even a car and the pick up hit you! As Hopelander says nothing will change traffic enforcement is very limited mainly helmets, license (where people pay a fine) and some searches. There needs to be more speed cameras etc, they would be profitable so there should not be an argument Thailand does not have the money? But the wreck has a Bangkok number plate (krungthepmahanakorn). Wild reckless driving, not to mention motorcycle riding - a nationwide phenomenon.
