PHUKET: Four men in a pickup who tried to elude a checkpoint crashed into a police car and a mosque fence last night, destroying two parked motorcycles in the process.
The men were quickly arrested and asked to explain the 55 grams of ya bah, two illegal handguns and drug-weighing scales found in the vehicle.
The crash came about 9.30pm near the Nai Yang t-junction in Thepkasattri Road. The driver of the pickup slowed down in readiness for the checkup then sped through, only to be pursued by officers in the police car.
Being questioned by Thalang police today are Anurak Ponpramoon, 25 Deachnarong Sangjan, 29 Pornchai Sentan, 32 and Chinnawat Prampi, 24

Well I am glad they did not resort to shooting their way through the check point. Clearly being a policeman in Phuket these days is not the soft job it once was. I am sure the police will be sympathetic to the explanation(s)!!!
