PHUKET: The cremation ceremony for highly-regarded Phuket expat resident Brad Kenny takes place on Monday, says a Facebook post from his family.
Dear friends of Brad Kenny and family.
For those of you wishing to pay your last respects to Brad, he is currently resting at Wat Kosit, Thepkrassatri Road, Phuket.
There is one more evening ceremony at 6:30pm Sunday 13 December.
Followed by funeral rites and cremation on Monday 14 December. Please assemble at 11:30am on Monday.
Brad's eldest daughter Sonya and son Justin are in transit to Phuket and it is anticipated they will both join K. Na and Kaylynn for the Sunday and Monday ceremonies.
On behalf of the family, thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love, support and caring from all around the world.
Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to support the ongoing work of the Rotary Club of Patong Beach, which Brad was so heavily involved with.
Account details for donations will be in a separate post.
Thank you.
One of the strongest outpourings of fond memories, respect and admiration has followed the unexpected death of the 59-year-old American father of three on Friday, at Mission Hospital in Phuket City.
Mr Kenny walked tall in more ways than one and was always generous with his time and energy for those in great need.
Among the posts on Facebook comes one from Sabre Andersen, the sister of former US Marine Dashawn Longfellow, who was knifed to death by Briton Lee Aldhouse in one of the holiday island's most infamous murders.
''We are so saddened to hear of Brad Kenny passing. He was a remarkable man. He went out of his way to reach out to my family and me when my brother was murdered there in Puckett in 2010. He kept me as updated as possible knowing we couldn't be there for any of the cases or the trial when the Brit bastard was sent back. He was there for us. People he has never even met, out of the goodness of his heart. R.I.P sweet Brad. The world is dimmer without you.''
Donald D. Battles, better known to many as Don of Don's Restaurant, once a popular haunt in southern Phuket, writes:
''Brad was a wonderful person. He and I have been the best of friends starting in Bangkok 24 years ago. He came to visit me in Chiang Rai 2 months ago and it was great to sit and have a long talk. May he rest in peace and we all will miss him.''
Mr Kenny leaves a wife, Na, daughters Sonya and Kaylynn and a son, Justin.
