Masseuse Anongnart Siriwattanakul, 46, disliked the owner of the Imperial Spa, near Phuket's weekend market, and plotted revenge, said Phuket Police Commander Major General Pachara Boonyasit.
Ten Korean customers were being treated inside the spa when the bandits struck on April 5, holding up the owner and a receptionist in a timely raid carried out with information allegedly supplied by Khun Anongnart.
Her boyfriend, Sontaya Tanawut, 33, carried a knife while Peerapon Sumnge, 22, and Tanan Sawangwit, 21, both carried bb guns, the commander said.
Angry female staff from the spa tried to get at Khun Anongnart last night and had to be restrained. Khun Anongnart took sick leave the day after the raid.
The stolen money - 406,882 baht - was spent by the robbers over Songkran in a shopping splurge on gold and mobile telephones, among other purchases.
Although the bandits were wearing full-face helmets, police eventually managed to trace and arrest them all. Owner Enu Mi Kim is unlikely to get her money back.
Two of the men were working as plumbers on a building site in Kamala.
A drama actor would find it hard to come up with a plot like this. All in all an unhappy ending for everyone.
