PHUKET: The holiday island's football team, FC Phuket, yesterday launched a campaign for funds and its future.
Although FC Phuket is languishing near the bottom of Division One, its key supporters are convinced better days are ahead with popular support.
The team behind the team met yesterday to launch the ''Save FC Phuket'' project.
What's on offer for 1000 fans who want the club to prosper and are prepared to put up 10,000 baht is a special edition FC Phuket jumper noting their support, as well as pride of place at future matches.
At yesterday's launch of the plan were Muangtong United director Ronnarit Suewaja, FC Phuket President Narubet Aryupong, FC Phuket director Soranun Sanae, consultant Paitoon Chutimakornkul, and Region 8 police deputy chief Major General Pisan Julladilok.
FC Phuket has had its triumphs over the past couple of seasons, winning some crunch games.
But the ruling that the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation could not continue to financially support the team - a ruling that applied to all administrative organisations throughout Thailand - left future funding up in the air.
FC Phuket, with the support of Muangtong United, will be aiming to score a few more goals as the Division One season continues.
