PHUKET investigators have ruled the death of Fedor Vasilev, 33, to be a suicide after concluding that his ladyboy katoey friend was not at the scene at the time. Papers discarded in a bin turned out to be a farewell note, asking her to attend his funeral.
PHUKET: The reason for a young Russian man apparently taking his own life are likely to become known as police on Phuket continue their investigation into his death today.
The body of the 33-year-old man was found in a room at the Royal Crown Resort in Patong about 6am.
Both his wrists had been slashed several times but there were no other signs of violence.
There were two letters, discarded in a wastepaper basket, apparently written by the man. Police hope to learn more about the case once they are translated from the Russian language.
An examination of security camera footage has so far revealed nothing suspicious.
The man had a beautiful ladyboy katoey girlfriend, according to police. She dropped him off at the resort at noon on Monday, security cameras show, but did not stay, as she normally did.
Police have established that the man arrived on Phuket on July 29 and was due to fly out today.
Maids obeyed the 'Do Not Disturb' notice on the door until this morning.
Officers have established that the knife was bought from a Big C store on Saturday.
Phuketwan has been supplied with the man's name but will not publish it until we can be sure relatives have been notified.
Anyone feeling depressed is advised to talk to family or friends, or to contact a doctor.
A "beautiful ladyboy"? There is no such thing. This was clearly murder made to look like a suicide.

There may be ''news'' organisations that prefer to find a juicy murder rather than a sad, sad suicide but really, all they ever attract are people like you.
And they're welcome to you. RIP.
